Alison Conant

Associate Instructor

Alison began her tai chi chuan journey in earnest in 2014.  Her studies and practice are primarily of the Yang Family style.

With a strong belief in growing one’s own knowledge and skills to be worthy of teaching others, she traveled to Selvino, Italy to attend the 2019 International Tai Chi Chuan Symposium.  She expanded her experience of the art and teaching approaches by participating in workshops led by the Grandmasters of Chen, Yang, Wu/Hao, Wu, and Sun styles.  The academic research sessions linking Tai Chi Chuan with health and wellness were a valuable layer.  It was here that she attained the rank of Copper Eagle.

In January 2019, Alison began teaching classes through the Tai Chi Yukon Association and Yang Family School.  Through continued studies and teaching she was approved in January 2021 as a trainer of the Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan method, and member of the Yang Family Teacher Academy.

She went on to attain the rank of Silver Eagle and became an Associate Instructor of the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association in 2022.

As in her past role as a dance instructor, Alison’s inspiration is founded in helping others discover the benefits of movement and the joy in learning.  She is grateful to all her own teachers past and present, local and international, and particularly to Pam Boyde for her unwavering support and encouragement.

Alison is dedicated to nurturing the longevity of tai chi chuan in the Yukon, not only through teaching but also through her work on the local association board.
