During the summer of 2000, Glenda watched taiji players practice every morning outside her dorm in Shanghai. Upon returning to Grand Rapids that fall, she began studying Traditional Yang style taiji with Gary Lee. It was through Gary that she met Han Hoong Wang and ever since has travelled regularly to Troy, Michigan for classes and private lessons with her. In addition to attending workshops with Yang Jun, Glenda has studied with Yao Junfang in Taiyuan, China. At the International Forum on Taijiquan in Thunder Bay, she presented a paper, “Grasping the Bird’s Tail, Taiji Communities and the Emergence of Civil Society in China,” based on research conducted in Taiyuan. In 2011, Glenda passed the level 5 rank testing. Glenda has earned a blue belt in the National Style and has studied in Chen village with Chen Xiaoxing. Glenda has been fortunate to have studied with many outstanding teachers and is anxious to share what she has learned with others.
