Igor Višnjevski

Associate Instructor

At the age of seven, I started my martial arts journey in my hometown Vršac (Republic of Serbia). My first teacher Jovan Obradović taught me the fundamental Yin/Yang philosophy and practice through traditional Jiu Jitsu. This approach of striving for inner balance and harmony helped me a lot in later life, especially during the years of civil war following the collapse of my homeland, Yugoslavia.

In my youth, I systematically and methodically expanded my sport training through athletics: first as a middle-distance runner and then as a sprinter and long jumper. Through this I developed my fundamental movement patterns, general endurance, speed and strength. I found this to be a very good way for me to compete and to optimize my mental abilities. It was a great honor and privilege to learn from national coaches in Serbia and at the Olympic training centers in Berlin.

During my studies in mechanical engineering at the TU of Berlin, I first experienced Chen-Style Tai Chi Chuan directly in a university course. Thereafter, I
balanced my work on demanding mechanical engineering projects with my practice of TCC. I devoted myself between year 2014 and 2020 intensively to the traditional YangStyle TCC in the lineage of master Yang Zhenhe and his sun Yang Jian Chao mainly for health benefits. During the worldwide ‘lockdown’ in the Covid pandemic I took the best opportunity for my further study and practice of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan in the lineage of
master Yang Jun. This brought me into contact with the teachers at the Yang Family Tai Chi Center in Berlin, led by Johannes Mergner, with whom I have been gaining deeper insights into the essence of Yang Tai Chi Chuan and refining my practice since the end of 2023.
