Instructor Registry

The International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association’s Instructor Registry is a list of the Association’s approved instructors. The registry is a community resource for people interested in finding an instructor. To locate an instructor, click here.

The registry also provides the Association a database by which it can track the training and certification of its instructors as well as provide information about which instructors are qualified to teach for the Association’s Tai Chi Chuan Teacher Academy.

Association members who meet the requirements to be an instructor may apply to be an instructor. The application forms can be obtained here. For more information contact: ts‑dept@yangfamilytaichi.com.

Five Levels of Association Instructors

The Association has five levels of instructors. The instructor levels are based on the instructor’s years of experience, proficiency as a student of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan, proficiency as an instructor, and recognition and contributions to the community and Association. All instructors are required to continually participate in seminars and training events to grow and improve as an instructor.

The process for becoming an instructor includes: an interview, assessment of Tai Chi Chuan performance of forms and Push Hands, assessment of teaching proficiency, participation in training events and seminars, and for upper levels of instructor the mentoring of persons to become instructors and the advancement of Tai Chi Chuan through community and Association contributions.

The five levels of instructor levels in hierarchal order are: Associate Instructor, Certified Instructor, Academy Instructor, Senior Instructor and Master Instructor.
